My name is Cathy Dorman, Partner of WD Designs, a small jewelry company that specializes in fund raising for non-profit organizations. This month I would like to highlight the work of one of these wonderful organizations: Bethlehem Ministry.
Bethlehem Ministry, Inc. is a non-profit organization created for the sole purpose of aiding Haiti’s poor. They “adopted” Terrier Rouge as their home, and have worked to establish a Montessori based pre-K through 8th grade school (Ecole St. Barthélémy); an income generating, sustainable agricultural project (Jatrofa Pepinyè); and a medical clinic (Clinique Espérance et Vie), which seeks to meet the health and wellness needs of the local community.
I traveled to Terrier Rouge in the North East region of Haiti with a group from Bethlehem Ministries. This month was the 1 year Anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti and I had the distinct honor of being there during their remembrance ceremonies. Much work has been done but there is so much more that still needs to be done. I worked on a Campaign against Cholera, gave eye exams to students, painted the clinic office and created storage facility for the school.
